Supporting Managed care organization | Medicaid Agencies With MCO Analytics

“Easy” isn’t a term that government healthcare professionals throw around very often. In fact, when you consider the constantly changing dynamics of the healthcare landscape — especially Medicaid — nothing is easy.

With that, when it comes to tracking Medicaid managed care organizations (MCOs) for performance and outcomes, state plan administrators are still struggling to figure out which metrics should be used.

What HealthEC likes to emphasize is just how simple this process can be when the right tools (like HealthEC’s Best in KLAS population health management solutions) are used for managing and comparing MCO performance across the state and for certain patient cohorts.

Change in the government health space takes time, but I believe that state healthcare organizations that act with a sense of urgency deploying data aggregation and analytics platforms can easily evaluate the MCOs they have awarded contracts to, and analyze data to see if these MCOs have demonstrated improvement in community health and cost savings.

And while there are inherent complexities in government healthcare, getting administrators to actually get a close-up view of these powerful population health management platforms in action shouldn’t be one of them.

That’s why we’re so looking forward to the 2019 Healthcare IT Connect Summit March 18-20 in Baltimore. Not only to have the opportunity to showcase our population health management platform to state administrators, but to also highlight our expertise and how we developed and implemented an Enterprise Data Warehouse (EDW) for the Department of Health Care Finance (DHCF), Washington D.C.’s Medicaid agency. The EDW enabled DHCF to drive policy and MCO contracting that initiated behavioral changes, and was certified by CMS for reuse in less than five months.
