Our Story

A Pioneering Force in Population Health Management

From the very start, our focus was on advanced data analytics that deliver real solutions. Our store begins in August of 2009 when our eConnectors technology was developed. In 2010, the principals formed IGI Health, LLC, to deliver solutions that enable healthcare organizations to manage member health by aggregating information from a variety of sources and translating that knowledge into action.

HealthEC’s principals developed a claims clearinghouse that is still one of the largest in the State of Minnesota. In 2011, the team built and deployed the technology that supports Health e-cITi NJ, Inc., a health information exchange (HIE) created to connect New Jersey caregivers with surrounding regional healthcare industry stakeholders.

By 2012, health organizations were facing an ever-growing challenge to access and effectively use data to drive value-based care. We saw an opportunity to help health systems—and patients—thrive by gathering all available data and combining it with machine learning and artificial intelligence (AI) methods.

Building on our expertise in data exchange, analytics, and workflow, in 2013, IGI Health was renamed HealthEC, LLC, with the “EC” representing everyone connected. The new name better aligned with the technological benefits we provide to our clients.

HealthEC subsequently developed and issued a full spectrum of solutions to help organizations manage population health and deliver on the promise of value-based care, launching our UDW, 3D Analytics, and CareConnect modules in 2013, 2014, and 2015, respectively. In 2018, HealthEC became a subsidiary of HEC Investments, LLC.

Today, we offer a full spectrum of analytic solutions, including a flagship PHM platform. Our staff of 135 employees support a multiplicity of clients across the healthcare industry.

HealthEC follows HIPAA best-practice standards and supports HIPAA security, privacy, and transaction standards and code sets. HealthEC has achieved full accreditation with the Outsourced Services Accreditation Program (OSAP) for OSAP-ACO from EHNAC. EHNAC’s OSAP accreditation recognizes excellence in health data processing and transactions and ensures compliance with industry-established standards and HIPAA regulations.

Through EHNAC’s comprehensive third-party review, HealthEC was evaluated in areas of privacy and security, technical performance, business practices, and organizational resources as they relate to outsourcing policies and procedures. In addition, EHNAC reviewed HealthEC’s process of managing and transferring PHI and determined that our organization meets or exceeds all EHNAC criteria and industry standards. Through our participation in, and completion of, this rigorous accreditation process, HealthEC demonstrates its strict adherence to standards.

HealthEC’s industry certifications and accreditations demonstrate our commitment to quality, performance, and standards-based interoperability and compatibility, ensuring rapid implementations and superior user experience. The platform is standards-based and compliant with the Integrating the Healthcare Enterprise (IHE) Technical Framework (TF).

The HealthEC platform is tried and tested, can be deployed across any existing system, and is easily modified to adapt to unique circumstances and workflow needs.

HealthEC was named Best in KLAS for PHM (Population Health Management) in both 2022 and 2019 by KLAS Research, recognizing us for our exceptional leadership in PHM partnerships and expertise in strategic guidance. In 2020, HealthEC was identified as a top-rated PHM software vendor in KLAS’s Value-based Care Managed Services report, and our platform was cited as the only solution to have all KLAS-validated SDoH (social determinants of health) capabilities. In 2021, KLAS recognized us for creating true partnerships with our clients, who cited our proactive approach as a driving factor in their satisfaction with our platform.

A 2020 report from Chilmark Research, Addressing Social Determinants of Health: IT Solutions to Engage Community Resources, highlights the impact of SDoH on the healthcare system and spotlights HealthEC as an effective solution in seamlessly connecting healthcare providers with community partners, resulting in significant reductions in unnecessary care expenditures and dramatic improvements in patients’ overall health and well-being.

HealthEC was also awarded a five-out-of-five-star rating in an overall assessment for Medicaid effectiveness by the Medicaid Black Book, published by Mostly Medicaid, which provides an independent look at a wide range of potential partners for Medicaid health plans.
